Xtarget – Transform your Mac into a powerful, amazingly fast SAN storage server.

globalSAN Xtarget

Xtarget is the only software built for OS X that enables you to inexpensively transform your Mac into an iSCSI SAN storage server. Just connect your Thunderbolt, USB, and FireWire DAS (Direct Attach Storage) devices to a Mac with Xtarget installed, then present the storage over Ethernet as iSCSI devices, which can then be shared using Xsan orSANmp.

The benefit of Xtarget is that it enables you to quickly create a SAN using components you already own, thus saving time and money yet still getting the performance and workflow benefits of a typical SAN.

Transform

Unlock the power of your Intel Mac – turn it into an iSCSI SAN server with Xtarget storage server software for OS X.

Perform

Present your Thunderbolt, FireWire, and USB storage over GbE or 10GbE iSCSI for a high performance media network.

Share

Share practically any storage device! Use SANmp or Xsan to share your fast iSCSI storage network with other users.

With Xtarget and iSANmp, we turned our Mac Mini and Promise Thunderbolt array into a production SAN for our FCP X suites. The improvement to our workflow has been massively enhanced. We’re very pleased with the balance of price, quality, and most of all: the exceptional level of service we’ve experienced. Many thanks to the SNS team for going the extra mile!

  • Turn direct-attached disks into SAN storage
  • Connect Thunderbolt, USB, FireWire, Fibre Channel disks
  • Use with Time Machine Backup/LAN or WAN
  • Enable “Cloud” access to DAS/Local storage
  • Install onto a Mac Mini for the ultimate portable SAN

Xtarget can present just about any local storage over iSCSI, but in fact, Xtarget is proving to have use cases above and beyond what would be considered for a traditional SAN. With Xtarget, a Mac Mini, and a few pounds of hardware, you can have a multi-user SAN that travels with you to the field, hotel, and other on-location work. You can even present your Xtarget disks to the cloud for remote users.

Can I try it?download-xtarget

Yes! Xtarget is available for a free trial. Download the Xtarget Storage Server software and instantly present your locally attached storage over iSCSI using your Mac. (If you plan to have multiple computers accessing the same drives, be sure to download iSANmp or use Apple’s Xsan filesystem included with OS X Lion and later.)
