File and Volume Sharing
Developed specifically for post production workgroups, EVO offers a huge advantage in terms of connectivity and upgradeability – since it integrates a NAS and a SAN into one system, you get the benefits of both file sharing and volume sharing. By including Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NAS into a single product, EVO assures that creative workgroups will have the best tool for every aspect of a project. You can even use Xsan, metaSAN or StorNext (or SANmp, of course!) to share EVO’s Fibre Channel storage just like you would any FC RAID system.
What’s in the Box?
EVO is a complete “SAN+NAS in a box.” It comes with everything you need to get started, and can be upgraded and expanded to grow into a much larger system when you need it.
You can choose from a pre-packaged EVO, or customize your own system.
Upgrade options are available to easily add more storage into the system or increase the number of direct-connect Ethernet and Fibre Channel clients. EVO’s options allow you to pick the perfect shared storage system for your workgroup – simply start with the EVO Base, then add more drives and extra Fibre Channel or Ethernet ports. A 10 Gb/s Ethernet option is also available, giving a 10x increase in network bandwidth for NAS and iSCSI.

With the available 16 Bay EVO options, you can:

A fully configured EVO can support a total of 32 disks and up to sixteen clients without needing a switch. But if you’d prefer to use a switch, that’s OK, too…
EVO also includes features such as advanced disk-provisioning that enables drives to be arranged into storage pools, each capable of containing one or more volumes. Individual volumes can each be assigned a discrete RAID level, meaning the flexibility to choose what matters most: performance, reliability, usable space, or a mix of all three. For the most demanding applications, EVO offers the ability to dedicate any pool’s bandwidth to a specific task such as ingesting video.
