All new EVO Version 5 hardware and a major new OS.
More performance and connectivity for production environments of any size.
EVO v5 takes a giant leap forward in shared storage for multimedia production.
The SNS EVO shared media storage server is a beautiful blend of simplicity and performance, with just the right options to make it perfect for all your projects. EVO v5 includes the latest useful advancements in both hardware and software, at a price that starts under $7k.
An impressive sustained workload of nearly 2.5GB/s can be shared using Ethernet and Fibre Channel, whether your computers are directly-connected to EVO or through a switch. And with support for 4TB drives, you’ll have much to share. The new EVO gives you total flexibility with built-in SAN and NAS, plus enhanced features like volume and pool expansion, SSD, 10 GbE, project/bin sharing, RAID 6, and remote monitoring and setup.
EVO is a complete, networked storage server solution for Video/Film/TV, graphics, VFX, animation, audio, and broadcast production environments.
The EVO shared media storage server combines a high-performance storage array with the most extensive connectivity options available in a single product – including 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel and 10 Gb/s Ethernet. EVO can be a SAN, a NAS, or both at the same time and is designed for online, real-time use with leading applications such as Final Cut Pro/FCP X, Avid, Smoke, Scratch, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Pro Tools.

File and Volume Sharing
Developed specifically for post production workgroups, EVO offers a huge advantage in terms of connectivity and upgradeability – since it integrates a NAS and a SAN into one system, you get the benefits of both file sharing and volume sharing. By including Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NAS into a single product, EVO assures that creative workgroups will have the best tool for every aspect of a project. You can even use Xsan, metaSAN or StorNext (or SANmp, of course!) to share EVO’s Fibre Channel storage just like you would any FC RAID system.
What’s in the Box?
EVO is a complete “SAN+NAS in a box.” It comes with everything you need to get started, and can be upgraded and expanded to grow into a much larger system when you need it.
You can choose from a pre-packaged EVO, or customize your own system.
Upgrade options are available to easily add more storage into the system or increase the number of direct-connect Ethernet and Fibre Channel clients. EVO’s options allow you to pick the perfect shared storage system for your workgroup – simply start with the EVO Base, then add more drives and extra Fibre Channel or Ethernet ports. A 10 Gb/s Ethernet option is also available, giving a 10x increase in network bandwidth for NAS and iSCSI.
- A 64-bit, multi-CPU, multi-core, 3U storage server
- SAN and NAS sharing
- 16 SATA/SSD drive bays (Expandable)
- 4 x 1 Gb/s Ethernet SAN/NAS ports (Expandable)
- Unlimited licenses of SANmp SAN sharing software
- Unlimited licenses of globalSAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X
- Redundant power supplies
With the available 16 Bay EVO options, you can:
- Add up to sixteen drives in EVO Base
- Add an EVO Expansion Unit for additional storage
- Add Fibre Channel ports for a total of eight ports
- Increase Ethernet ports for a total of sixteen GbE ports
- Add multiple 10Gb Ethernet ports
A fully configured EVO can support a total of 32 disks and up to sixteen clients without needing a switch. But if you’d prefer to use a switch, that’s OK, too…
EVO also includes features such as advanced disk-provisioning that enables drives to be arranged into storage pools, each capable of containing one or more volumes. Individual volumes can each be assigned a discrete RAID level, meaning the flexibility to choose what matters most: performance, reliability, usable space, or a mix of all three. For the most demanding applications, EVO offers the ability to dedicate any pool’s bandwidth to a specific task such as ingesting video.
